For those of you that don’t think you can run the Woodinville Half Marathon that’s coming up, then here is another challenge for you. Who has tried hot yoga? I read somewhere that one hot yoga class burns as many calories as running a half marathon. Having ran several half marathons and also participating in a dozen hot yoga classes, I’m here to tell you that both are equally challenging. But I do believe the benefits of hot yoga, make the effort well worth it. Benefits of doing yoga are: reducing stress, increasing flexibility, increasing energy, increasing muscle tone, lowering blood pressure, losing weight, improving concentration and preventing injury and disease.
In Yoga there is no standard of comparison except yourself. To be ‘Perfect’ in Yoga is to do the best you can do. You will find yourself enjoying this time and you will see your increasing stamina and endurance. The Woodinville community has their very own Hot Yoga of Woodinville, located at 13317 NE 175th St. Suite C, Woodinville, WA 98072 phone 425.415.1802
The studio is heated, (105 degrees), to relax the muscles, help in healing and detoxing the body. Consisting of a series of 26 postures, each done twice in the same order every time. These postures are 5,000 years old and are meant as medicine. For FAQ’s about Bikram yoga click here. I highly recommend hot yoga, and would love to hear any feedback from anyone that has experienced it.

After the excitement of buying or selling a home, comes the hard work of packing and moving. It’s the backbreaking work that makes my dad swear he would rather get a root canal any day of the week before moving. Even if you are springing for the pizza and beer, your friends really don’t want to help you! After moving three times last year, I will now make a promise to my friends and family. I solemnly swear I will use a moving company the next time I move.
With my recommendation, Two Men and a Truck are Movers Who Care. Located here in Woodinville providing professional, reliable service throughout the city and anywhere else you may need.
I had a great time meeting with Joel Martinez of Two Men and a Truck. Joel sincerely expressed his enthusiasm for the quality and care they provide, not only to their clients, but also to the community through various outreach and charity programs they are involved with. To name a few; Toys for Tots, Holiday Stockings for homeless children, Forgotten Children, Hopelink, Jubilee Woman’s Care Center, and Maltby Foodbank.

Given the price of houses in Woodinville, given the lack of condos and price of condos that exist in Woodinville, it’s clear that developers are going to build higher price condos in Woodinville. It may be in the infancy stage now, but we expect more condo development in the near future.
The chart below shows the number of houses and condos currently listed for sale in Woodinville, Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland.
While condos represent about 24% to 37% of the listings in Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland; condos represent less than 9% of listings in Woodinville. As such, condominium development in Woodinville is in its infancy compared to these other markets. It is likely that the number of condominiums built in Woodinville will increase significantly in the next decade. There are only two new condominium properties for sale in Woodinville; namely, Chateau Woods (114 units) and Arbors of Woodinville (9 units). The chart shows the percentage of listings with prices of $500,000 or more.

In Woodinville 243 of the 327 houses currently listed for sale or 74%; are listed for $500,000 or more. However, this is less compared to the other 3 markets, where 82% to 88% of houses are listed for $500,000+. However, only 1 of the 32 condominiums listed for sale in Woodinville is listed for $500,000 or more. In Redmond, 10% of the condos are listed for $500,000+. However, the percentage of condominiums listed for $500,000 or more in Redmond and Bellevue is 39% and 42%, respectively.
The chart below compares the average list price of houses and condominiums currently listed in Woodinville, Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland.
There are two things to notice in the above chart. First, the average condominium list price in Woodinville is well below that of the other 3 market areas. Second, Woodinville’s condo list price is much lower than its average list price for houses compared to the other 3 market areas. As shown, the average condominium list price in Woodinville is only 37% of the average list price for houses in Woodinville. The average list price for condominiums for the other 3 market areas range from 46% to 60% of the average house list price.

To stay current on the Olympic Medal results or to find the schedule of events, you can click on the picture below. Today alone, 17 gold medals will be decided.

Here are a few interesting bits about the Olympics-
*Visa claimed that there were $10 million worth of sales on day one alone. That’s $10 million dollars into the local economy.
*White mice will be used to test athletes’ food at the 2008 Beijing Olympics to make sure it is not poisoned.
*There are five Olympic Mascots for Beijing 2008: Beibei (blue Fish), Jingjing (black Panda), Huanhuan (red Flame), Yingying (yellow Antelope) and Nini (green Swallow). Their five names together – “Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni” – translates as ‘Welcome to Beijing’.

While visiting the Woodinville Farmers Market, I came across purple carrots? Never seeing these before, I had to stop and buy some. Carrots actually date back 5,000 years ago and were originally found growing in Afghanistan. During these years the vegetable appeared in a variety of hues ranging from purple to white, pale yellow, red, green/yellow and black (but never orange) – that came about in the 15th century. Traditionally the purple carrot has been known to taste bitter. This was before it was bred by the Dutch to be orange, which gave the sweeter taste. Although these purple carrots from the market were anything but bitter. What a great way to eat healthy and support local farming.
Click on the picture below for more information on Growing Washington and how you can eat local organic food, and have it delivered to your home today.
Next at the market…I found some Bird Condos, 4 bedrooms to be exact! Chuck Dickey, Craftsman for All Types of Things made these special bird houses from recycled cedar with succulent plants at the bottom.

Chuck was too shy to let me take his picture. Maybe next time! If you need to reach him, you can email JreadsCsaws@aol.com
Next I’d like you to meet Rykandar (Dara) Korrati. She was at the market playing, which helped make the sky a little bluer that day. She also makes bamboo flutes and piccolos on commission. Click on her picture for performance dates and other info.

We’ve all heard the housing gloom and doom being splattered all over the news media like bugs on a windshield, but housing experts in the Seattle market say we’ve bottomed out and are starting to climb out of the housing slump. What conditions do we have here in the Seattle area that make it an excellent time to buy a home? Actually, we have several key advantages.
Key Advantages
First, mortgage rates are at near historic lows. We have data from Freddie Mac and BankRate.com’s weekly surveys of mortgage lenders as a general indicator of the current mortgage market. The loan you may qualify for may or may not be at that percentage but both surveys are a good snapshot of rates. Compare the weekly survey rate to the chart of annual average rates for a fixed rate mortgage from Freddie Mac. As you can see, our recent low rates are more of the exception than the rule and, according to recent reports from the Federal Reserve, may go up in the next six months.
Second, economically we are one of the healthiest areas in the country. Our unemployment is low despite a small increase in the first quarter of 2008. Job growth is steady, companies are hiring new workers and the Seattle area is home to a diverse group of companies and industries. That increase in new jobs will bring more workers and their families into the greater Seattle area, and they’re all going to need a place to live.
